Italy

We did make it to Italy, but only just. We drove to San Remo but were unimpressed by this corner of Italy. These are the beaches of San Remo where you rent a locker and a beach umbrella.

Côte d'Azur

Looking back towards Monaco in the distance.

Nice harbour

Had some really big boats in it. The third one, the Lady S, is for hire for just €497,000 per week, which works out to be about AU$72 per minute.

Typical French breakfast.

Marc Chagall

Marc was buried in Saint Paul de Vence, another hilltop town.

Tourrettes-sur-Loup

Tourrettres is a beautiful, medieval fortified village on top of one of the hills of Provence.

French fire hydrant.

Are fitted with a cover that has the same engagement that is used to turn the water on.

Grasse perfume museum.

Making perfume is amazing close to making whiskey !!

Close parking.

Remember that the driver is on the left.

Grasse

We walked into Grasse.

Boot scrapers in Provence part 1

When we were wandering the streets of Aix-en-Provence, we kept seeing these boot scrapers attached to the walls of buildings near the entrance. They were so many varieties that I started to photograph them.

Boot scraper of Provence part 2

More boot scrapers. (and one ex boot scraper.)

Mougins

We had dinner in Mougins were the house prices are rather steep. Pretty roses though and a great view across the valley.

Grasse

We are staying in a restored farmhouse just out of Grasse.

Mont Ventoux

We drove from Lyon to Grasse via Mont Ventoux. The 'giant of Provence' that features in the Tour de France a lot. There were lots of cyclists riding up it, a very hard ride as the slope is 14% at some parts.
