Here's the map. I walked from Maswik Lodge where I was staying up to the east end of the Hermits Rest Route(the red one) and since I just missed the first bus, I walked to the Trailview outlook and then to the Maricopa Point. I caught the bus there to Powell Point and walked to Hopi Point, where the crowds were three deep at the railing.
I got on the next bus and the driver suggested that the views were better from Mohave point, so I got off there and stayed until after sunset.
